During the Test

Worried about the actual layout of the test? Wondering how to access the test? Fear not, we have the answers.

The Layout of The Test

The layout of each test, no matter the language, is the same. There are variances between each test, but the following elements remain consistent:

  • There are 150 questions.
  • There is a time limit of two and a half hours (unless you have pre-approved accommodations).
  • It is graded in three sections with each section offering the test taker an opportunity to earn 4 credit hours (12 credits total). Those three sections cover the 101, 102, and 201 credit levels respectively
  • You will be tested on beginner and intermediate conversation & grammar
  • There is no writing or speaking, only listening and reading. The questions/answers are in both English and your test language
  • The test is entirely multiple choice

Accessing the Test

The test taker will not have direct access to the FLATS Test. An examinee can only access the test with their proctor, which is why it is vital that a proctor is selected during the registration process.

After you register for the test, our office will process your registration, where you will be sent an email with your testing instructions. Within those instructions, the contact information for your proctor can be found. Once you have registered for the test and scheduled your test, it is recommended that you reach out to your proctor with any questions about accessing the test. All our proctors/institutions have different processes when it comes to setting up test, which is why we recommend contacting them directly.
